Our jewelry
Every piece of jewelry we offer you is crafted from genuine .925 sterling or .999 fine silver. Even our jewelry made primarily from other materials – such as freshwater pearls, beads and leather – incorporates only closures, toggles and accents made of sterling silver or fine silver. We simply do not carry jewelry containing silverplate or any other “plated” finish. (We do, however, offer a few “Home Accents” and “Accessories” selections with a silverplated finish.)
When left exposed and unused, all sterling will tarnish; this is a natural occurrence caused by oxidation from extended exposure to air. When not wearing your jewelry, we recommend you store it in a jewelry box or drawer, preferably one that has a tarnish resistant cloth lining. Alternatively, you could keep your sterling jewelry wrapped in tarnish resistant cloths or pouches.
To remove light tarnish and restore sterling to its original luster, gently wipe or buff it with a silver cloth. (For your convenience, we offer a very nice set of silver cloths that you may purchase along with your jewelry and other sterling keepsakes.) Heavier tarnish may require use of a cream or solution specially designed for tarnish removal. Used according to directions, these products will not harm your jewelry.
If your jewelry features an antiqued patina or freshwater pearls, however, we recommend you refrain from using anything other than a polishing cloth for cleaning, as chemical products can remove the patina and harm your pearls. Similarly, we recommend you do not expose your jewelry and other sterling keepsakes to harsh chemical solutions, such as those found in many household cleaning products. In particular, chlorine and/or bleach can permanently damage silver.
Of course, we believe the best way to enjoy your sterling and fine silver jewelry is to wear it often and in abundance!
